Using TikTok for business

By incorporating TikTok into your social strategy, you can have fun with video content, build a community, and find unique ways to tap into your audience. When you first start using TikTok, choose a niche topic that represents your brand. Next decide when and how often you’d like to post. Next, try your hand at creating and sharing your first video by following these steps:

Create a video

Tap the black plus (+) button at the bottom of your screen. A recording screen will come up with a red circle to start recording. Choose either the 15- or 60-second option, then start making your video. Have fun with TikTok’s sound library. You can use it to add unique music. Use the “Effects” icon (located to the left of the red record button) to add different filters and backgrounds.

Share a video

Once you’ve recorded your video and added any desired music or effects, tap the white circle with the red check mark at the bottom right-hand side of the screen. Then tap next. A post screen will appear and you will have the option to type a description for your video, add hashtags, tag your friends, add links, and more. You can also share your video on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. Once you’ve finished creating your post, be sure to tap the red “Post” button at the bottom right to post your video immediately; or tap the white “Drafts” button to save it for later.

Once you’ve mastered the how-to's of TikTok videos, start brainstorming original ways to promote your business on the app. Think about who your target audience is, what you are promoting, and what you are hoping to achieve. What is unique about your brand’s culture or values? What makes your business fun? Pro Tip: Share content that is genuine and let engagement be your guide.
