Elevate your presence on social with advice on consulting

Managing clients? We’ve compiled some of the core fundamentals of consulting to help you position yourself as a thought leader in the world of consulting.

Deliver quantifiable results

Consultants offer advice and expertise to organizations to help them improve their business performance in terms of operations, profitability, management, structure, and strategy. The workload can be heavy at times, and may stretch across multiple disciplines. Find your niche, and capitalize on your strengths.

Offer assessments

Find out what’s missing i.e. management skills or sales training for example. As a consultant, you have the unique role of being unbiased, and can provide a non-judgmental and fair synopsis, as well as provide advice on how to best move forward from an “outside” perspective.

Get creative with small businesses

The truth of the matter is that small businesses just don’t have the bandwidth to do it all themselves. This is where a consultant comes in and finds creative ways to help them take some of the work off their plate. This may include building a client’s website, writing content, or building a company social media presence for example. These are key items that every  business needs, but that the client may not have the time for.

Empower clients

As a consultant, your goal is to empower your client through coaching, so that they will ultimately be able to solve problems and move forward without your help. Remember, you are there to guide and train, not to take over their job.

Set expectations

Managing your time and your client’s expectations is crucial to your success as a consultant. Be sure to set clear deliverables, communicate regularly, be transparent, and set realistic deadlines. Honesty is always the best policy.

Be a good listener

Understand your client’s needs. A first impression goes a very long way in not only winning but retaining clients. Be transparent and share your experience and knowledge. It is all about gaining your client’s trust. A happy client is one that you will retain.
